Linking Your Users in OttoLearn and SmarterU
Before delivering Mastery Profiles as SCORM courses in SmarterU, you first need to link your users in the two systems.
Before continuing, we recommend reviewing our support page on Linking Your Users in OttoLearn and Your LMS to understand the overall process and why this is required.
To link your users in OttoLearn and SmarterU, follow these steps.
Step 1: Create Your Users in SmarterU
First, you need to make sure your users exist in SmarterU. If they don't, you'll need to create them before proceeding to Step 2.
Step 2: Get Your Users' SCORM Student IDs
Next, you need to get each user's unique SCORM Student ID from SmarterU. This ID will link your users in the two systems.
To get your users' SCORM Student ID's:
- Log in to your SmarterU account.
- Navigate to the Users Dashboard.
- Click Export to CSV or Export to CSV (full).
You will receive an email that contains your CSV file.
Within this file you will be able to see the information that has been entered for each user, as well as some other data and their SCORM Student ID.
ProTip: Before doing your export you can use the dropdowns above the grid to limit the export to users in a specific SmarterU group or team.
Step 3: Create Your Users in OttoLearn
Finally, you need to create your users in OttoLearn.
Your users will need at least one Username attribute, set to be required.
To create a custom attribute, contact our Support Team.
To create users in OttoLearn, you can:
- Add each user manually
- Contact us to do a bulk import
To link your users:
- Open the CSV file you generated in Step 2 and find the SCORM Student ID column.
- Copy each ID and paste it in the Username attribute for the corresponding user in OttoLearn.
Your users will now be able to access their training through OttoLearn SCORM packages in SmarterU.
